Dallas Cowboys May Target Running Back in 2024 NFL Draft

Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence Anchor Defensive Ends Depth Chart

Free Agency Exits Leave a Gap at Running Back

The Dallas Cowboys boast an elite defensive ends depth chart led by Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. However, the team's recent free agency departures have created a need at running back heading into the 2024 NFL Draft.

Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in 2024, leaving the Cowboys with a potential void in their backfield. While the team has other options, such as Rico Dowdle and Malik Davis, they may look to the draft to bolster their depth and competition.

One potential target for the Cowboys in the draft is Cam'Ron Freeman, who played for the Los Angeles Rams last season. Freeman rushed for 319 yards and two touchdowns as the backup to Kyren Williams. He has never rushed for more than 521 yards in a season, but he could provide a solid and experienced option for the Cowboys.

With the NFL Draft still several months away, the Cowboys have plenty of time to evaluate their options and make a decision on whether to draft a running back. However, it is clear that the team needs to address the position in some way, whether through the draft, free agency, or both.
