Boeing 737 Crash-Lands in Turkey
Turkish Airlines Flight 1951
The Poldercrash
On February 25, 2009, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Turkish Airlines Flight 1951, also known as the Poldercrash, crashed during its approach to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Netherlands. The aircraft came down in a farm field approximately 1 nautical mile from the runway, breaking into several pieces.
All 135 passengers and crew on board survived the crash, but some sustained serious injuries. The cause of the accident was determined to be a combination of pilot error and technical issues with the aircraft's landing gear.
The Poldercrash is a reminder of the importance of aviation safety and the need for constant vigilance by both pilots and airport authorities. It is also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, as all those on board were able to escape the wreckage and survive.
