Tatum scores 36, Brown hits 3 to force OT

Celtics win 133-128

Jayson Tatum scored 36 points and Jaylen Brown hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, as the Boston Celtics edged the Indiana Pacers 133-128 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night.

Malcolm Brogdon led the Pacers with 28 points, while Tyrese Haliburton added 22 and Myles Turner had 20.

The Celtics took an early lead and led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Pacers chipped away and eventually took the lead in the third quarter.

The game went back and forth in the fourth quarter, and the Pacers held a five-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.

But Tatum hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to two, and then Brown tied the game with a layup with 41 seconds remaining.

The Pacers had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Brogdon's 3-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the rim.

In overtime, the Celtics took control and pulled away for the win.

The Celtics will host the Pacers in Game 2 on Thursday night.
